GUITARS

1992 USA Custom UCEQM-TP: for Metal, Fusion and great rhythm sounds. Equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups.

The track was recorded in Cubase VST.

The USA Custom was fed through my Boogie Quadpreamp and Korg A3 and straight to the desk. The distortion produced by the A3.

1980 LR-10: For Jazz, Blues, and Fusion. I really enjoy the response of this guitar. Equipped with Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups.

The LR10 was fed through my Boogie Quadpreamp and Korg A3 and straight to the desk. The chorusing was an A3 Patch.

1981 AR-300 CS: For just about anything. It’s a really great versatile guitar. Does all of the above plus rock, pop, and country styles as well. Love the ebony neck. This guitar has become my current favourite.

For this recording I played through my MKIII with a little reverb & delay from the A3. The signal was then sent from the direct out on the MKIII to the input of my QUAD Preamp for a little extra tone shaping. The signal was sent out of the recording outs straight to the desk and into the soundcard.

All my Ibanez have been refretted. I love the Ibanez necks and high frets but they made them too soft, (for speed of production I suspect) and with the amount of practice I do they wear pretty quickly. I usually get some thing like the largest highest frets available (like Jim Dunlop No. 6s)

I mainly buy all my gear second hand and some of the older instruments still represent good value for money.

2006 GIBSON CUSTOM SHOP HISTORIC "G0" MODEL.

Made by Gibson custom shop for the Guitar Centre chain in the US. Essentially the same as an R0 or R8 with a plain top and a '60s neck profile. Replaced pots and caps with a Kit from RS Guitar Works and replaced the burstbucker pups with SD Antiquities. The BBs are good pups, but would work better for a edgier hard rock band. The Ants have a warmer more vintage sound to my ears.

Really pleased with the instrument now, but don't find it superior to my Ibanez AR-300. Just different.
